I grew up on a large dairy ranch in Two Rock, on the western edge of Sonoma County . As a child, I roamed the rolling hills, sprinkled with oak trees and wildflowers. I've always had a passion for the outdoors and feel very fortunate to live in such a beautiful part of our country.

I picked up my first camera when I was thirteen, shooting primarily black and white film. Very soon, I was processing and printing my own images. I loved working in the darkroom! Watching a plain sheet of white paper turn into a photograph right before my very eyes was magical.

As much as I liked the artistic form of black and white, I began to add color to my repertoire to capture the incredible variations of color in the wings of a swallowtail butterfly, or the ruffled petals of a bearded iris.

Today, thanks to the latest computer technologies, and advancements in camera equipment, I can combine color and black and white in the same image for a very unique and artistic effect.

After I started my family, my gears naturally shifted to photographing people. One of my specialties is photographing people outside. The look and feel of natural lighting is so much more flattering to the features than artificial light. We live in such a great area that, within an hour, we can have a magnificent variety of natural backdrops-- redwoods, valley oaks, apples orchards, the ocean, rivers, and vineyards and more. I also sell my photographs that I have taken in Sonoma County .
